Footgolf!

Hello lovelies,

A few weekends ago I went away as a celebration for my Nan and Grandad’s 60th wedding anniversary – that’s amazing isn’t it? It was a truly lovely weekend and on the way home we stopped to play a little spot of footgolf.

Okay so some of you may be asking “Emily have you gone mad?” “What on earth is footgolf? “How do you even play footgolf?” Well let me tell you…

It is basically the same concept as golf – you aim to get the ball in the hole, in as little shots as possible except you play with a football (and obviously the holes are bigger so the football can go in.) As for the golf stick, well that’s your leg and foot! I am absolutely terrible at football and have never enjoyed playing it, so when this idea was put forward I genuinely believed it wasn’t going to be something I would enjoy – but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

It’s like the proper size of a golf course!

Please excuse the quality of the pictures, these were taken on my phone quickly to show you what it is like, I didn’t take my camera with me because it would have been in the way.

When you arrive, you have the option of 9 or 18 holes – we went for the 18, maximum amount of holes for me to at least attempt to get it in once. You get given your football and scorecard and then you are free to start. When I saw the first hole and the distance that was between the start point and the hole, I thought I was never ever going to make it (I wasn’t even sure I knew how to kick a ball properly!) But I have to say this is one of the most fun things I have done in quite some time, it doesn’t matter if you can’t play football, if you can’t kick a ball properly or if you can’t aim a ball because it all ends up a bit of fun and you all enjoy being a bit rubbish together. (I can hear the family gasping because they thought they were good – you were guys).

I have to say for me personally, 9 holes would have definitely been enough – you don’t quite realise how much exercise you are doing but I ended up running all over the place and just walking between the holes without being a lunatic like me, is quite a workout! It is definitely a lot of fun and something I highly recommend if you are looking for an activity to do that is something different from the usual! The game is seriously designed for anyone, there was a whole range of us playing and everyone enjoyed it!

The service of the place was also amazing and we even stayed for some lunch and it was incredible. I think it is such a good idea and I can now see the interest in going to have a game of footgolf – I think you guys should try it out too!

I hope you enjoyed reading this, I hope to continue to go to different places and try new things which I’m sure I’ll be sharing. Don’t forget to like and follow my blog if you enjoyed reading and head over to my social media using the links too!
